The mission of the Blue Cross & Blue Crescent Movement

The mission of the Blue Cross & Blue Crescent Movement is to support and strengthen humanitarian action through coordinated, ethical, and community-based initiatives that respond to humanitarian needs arising from disasters, public health challenges, social vulnerability, and emergencies.

The Movement is committed to operating in accordance with the principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence, while maintaining transparency, accountability, and respect for applicable national and international legal frameworks.

In alignment with the consultative role provided under Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the Movement contributes expertise, field experience, and policy perspectives to relevant humanitarian and development dialogues, without implying representation of or authority from the United Nations.

Guided by its commitment to “For All Humanity”, the Blue Cross & Blue Crescent Movement seeks to deliver principled humanitarian impact that is sustainable, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of vulnerable and at-risk communities.
