IFBC East African Blue Crescent Societies Regional Directorate
Regional Overview
The IFBC East African Blue Crescent Societies Regional Directorate is an integral part of the International Federation of Blue Cross & Blue Crescent Societies (IFBC) and serves as the Regional Directorate for the National Blue Crescent Society delegations across East Africa.
The Regional Directorate provides strategic leadership, regional coordination, institutional development, humanitarian diplomacy, operational support and capacity-building to the National Blue Crescent Societies throughout East Africa. Working in partnership with national delegations, it strengthens humanitarian preparedness, disaster risk reduction, emergency response, community health, volunteer development, institutional cooperation and regional humanitarian partnerships in accordance with the mission, principles and objectives of the Blue Cross & Blue Crescent Movement.
The National Blue Crescent Society delegations organise and implement humanitarian programmes, emergency response operations, community-based initiatives and volunteer-led humanitarian activities within their respective countries under the strategic guidance, coordination and regional support of the IFBC East African Blue Crescent Societies Regional Directorate.

Regional Functions
The IFBC East African Blue Crescent Societies Regional Directorate works to:
Coordinate humanitarian cooperation among National Blue Crescent Societies across East Africa.
Strengthen regional disaster preparedness, emergency response and humanitarian recovery capabilities.
Support the establishment, development and institutional strengthening of National Blue Crescent Societies.
Promote volunteer leadership, humanitarian education and professional capacity-building.
Facilitate regional humanitarian partnerships and cross-border cooperation.
Support community health, medical outreach, humanitarian relief and resilience-building programmes.
Promote climate adaptation, drought resilience, environmental sustainability and humanitarian innovation.
Strengthen humanitarian preparedness for coastal, maritime and cross-border emergencies.
Represent East African humanitarian priorities within the global IFBC framework.
