IFBC South American Blue Cross Societies Regional Directorate
Regional Overview
The IFBC South American Blue Cross Societies Regional Directorate is an integral part of the International Federation of Blue Cross & Blue Crescent Societies (IFBC) and serves as the Regional Directorate for the National Blue Cross Society delegations across South America.
The Regional Directorate provides strategic leadership, regional coordination, institutional development, humanitarian diplomacy, operational support and capacity-building to the National Blue Cross Societies throughout South America. Working in partnership with national delegations, it strengthens humanitarian preparedness, disaster risk reduction, emergency response, public health initiatives, volunteer development and regional cooperation in accordance with the mission, principles and objectives of the Blue Cross & Blue Crescent Movement.
The National Blue Cross Society delegations organise and implement humanitarian programmes, emergency response operations, community-based initiatives and volunteer-led humanitarian activities within their respective countries under the strategic guidance, coordination and regional support of the IFBC South American Blue Cross Societies Regional Directorate.

The IFBC South American Blue Cross Societies Regional Directorate works to:
- Coordinate humanitarian cooperation among National Blue Cross Societies throughout South America.
- Strengthen regional preparedness, emergency response and disaster recovery capabilities.
- Support the establishment, development and institutional strengthening of National Blue Cross Societies.
- Promote volunteer leadership, humanitarian education and professional development.
- Facilitate cross-border humanitarian partnerships and regional cooperation.
- Support community health, resilience-building and humanitarian development programmes.
- Promote environmental sustainability and climate adaptation initiatives.
- Represent South American humanitarian priorities within the global IFBC framework.
